I met a fellow professor yesterday that used a monacle. Yup, a monacle. It dangled about his neck and he peered through it when necessary.

I had a great weekend with my girls in Orlando over the weekend! Saturday we went out to Jetty Park and enjoyed some beautiful weather. Despite applying sunscreen, twice, I came home quite sunburned! I promise, I am an adult and I do know how to apply sunscreen!

After spending a few hours at the beach laughing, chatting, and wave jumping (apparently I'm bad at this...I always ended up almost losing a piece of my bathing suit and/or with a mouthful of saltwater and/or with saltwater in my eyes), we went to a Hart-family favorite--the tiki bar! They have the most delicious crab legs and sweet potato french fries! Being from a land-locked state, Cydnee was a little reluctant to try them but, after a good dose of peer pressure and a nearly misssed opportunity (ah, ah, ah, cheese sticks!) we all enjoyed a delicious lunch!

Believe it or not, we got all of this food after inhaling two baskets of sweet potato french fries (with this delicious red pepper jelly...makes my mouth water just thinking about it!)

...but I dug right in! It was just as good as I remembered!



After we rolled ourselves out of the tiki bar we had a pretty low-key evening, which was perfect before our day of shopping the next day! That's a whole-nother post! The thrill of the hunt, the posturing for encroaching predators, and the complete satisfaction of the kill (or purchase, if you will)!

P.S. I'm watching the Bachelorette finale...what the!?! Really?? Ed over Kiptyn!?! Boo! Hiss! I'm done with this show.

Ready for a Girls Weekend!

We're headed out of town this weekend! I'm going to spend the weekend with my sister and a couple of our fun Utah girls in Orlando and Jeff's headed to Chad and Janet's in Palm Bay for the week. I've made it very clear that Chad is to return Jeff no later than Sunday, August 2nd--he can be returned earlier but, no later.

I'm looking forward to a fun weekend of shopping and going to the beach! Hopefully I'll have some fun pics to share on Sunday night! I'm not looking so forward to a lonely week at home. Maybe little Violet will pee on Jeff again and then he'll want to come home early! :-)

P.S. Did you all read the article about Tim Tebow in the current issue of Sports Illustrated? Just more reason to love him! 43 more days until kickoff!

4th of July Fun!

Jeff and I went to our favorite Independence Day spot, St. Augustine, and it was a perfect day! The weather was beautiful, the fireworks were amazing and the company couldn't be beat! I always get a little choked up listening to the national anthem and watching the fireworks. I am so grateful to be an American. We sure have our problems but, I am grateful for the freedoms I enjoy and those who have sacrificed so much to provide and protect them.

And the show was amazing! Everything is set to music that is heard throughout the city and it's definitely our favorite place to be on the 4th. It's something we recommend everyone seeing at least once!

New Position Starts Today!

Today's my first day as a Research Assistant Professor! Yay!

Happy Birthday, Jeff!

Jeff is turning 25 again today! He's spending the day by the pool and then we're going to celebrate with a big birthday steak and homemade apple pie tonight!

In honor of Jeff's big day, here are three fun facts you might not know about Jeff that I absolutely love:

1. Jeff secretly enjoys watching a certain MTV reality show. I'm not going to say which one but it rhymes with "The Pills"

2. He talks about his family like it's the mafia and he is very committed to "the family"

3. He is very afraid of spiders. When he goes outside to knock down the banana spiders (which can get as big as your hand) it's always a fun thing to watch. It involves a long-handled broom, Raid, and a lot of swinging of the broom and running away. Even though he's afraid, he still takes care of all of our bug problems.

In all seriousness, Jeff is a fantastic person. He's the best husband and friend a girl could ask for and the world is a better place because he's in it. So, here's to you, my love, and all of the great 25th birthdays ahead.

Note from Amy: At least 50% of our household is happy about these purchases. Jeff insists these are necessities for food storage (just in case we need to start eating squirrel), emergency preparedness and home safety. I still think he's more likely to accidentally shoot me...

I promise we're still here...

...we just haven't been doing anything really blog-worthy lately! We've settled into a nice summer grove. I just love the slower, more casual pace at work in the summer and Jeff has settled nicely into his role as a house-wife. He's working out like crazy (about 4 hours a day...really!) and keeps a very clean house! I'm a really lucky girl to have such a handsome guy who takes such good care of me. I'm definitely spoiled this summer, which will make my transition into a dental school widow that much harder!

We have some home-improvement odds-and-end planned for the weekend and I'm off to Dallas next week for my cousins wedding. It's going to be a fun trip and I'm so excited to see my family!
