Visiting the Peepers

We had a great weekend in Orlando visiting Ashley and Jay! Plenty of good food, fun and excellent company!

We kicked our weekend off with a delicious sushi dinner in Baldwin Park and plenty of attention for our little P.

Presley really loved her Uncle Jay!

Life sure does change with a baby--we were home by 9pm and 4 adults spent a good 30 minutes just trying to make our sweet girl laugh.

One of these days, I'm going to post a picture of P's hands. She has really long fingers! I see a piano in her future... But, for now she had fun playing Auntie Ashley's!

On Saturday, Ashley and Jay kindly watched Presley while Jeff and I went to the temple. Afterwards, we were treated to some time cruising the lake and visiting on Peeper Beach. I was so excited for Presley to feel sand on her feet for the first time.

She liked it and is now, officially, a Florida girl!

Jay had some delicious ribs and beer-can chicken smoking all afternoon and we had a great feast after a nice day on the lake. He also made the most delicious Texas toast--the meat was delicious but, Jay's Texas toast is where it's at. I must've eaten a half-a-loaf of white bread that day. Y.U.M.

Sunday morning we had a nice brunch at the golf course and Jay provided some free golfing lessons to Jeff and Ashley at the driving range.

No golfing for me! After such a fun weekend, my little Sweet P was all tuckered out. Thanks to the Peepers for having us! We can't wait to do it again!

A Couple of Tidbits

In preparation for solid foods, the high chair has officially made it's debut! P looks so little in it!

Jeff has been taking P running in the evenings while I work and I received this little ditty when they were out for a "run." It made me smile.

Cuppy Love

Presley has developed a serious love for cups and bottles. If you're drinking out of it, she wants it...bad. She's not so interested in the contents of the cup, she just wants to be like Mommy and Daddy and get it in her mouth. The upside to this is that it's pretty easy to keep her entertained at restaurants. The downside is, you have the share your cup!

As far as we can tell, she's not chewing on the cup, it's more of this sucker-fish-style, licking and sucking of the cup.

We've tried to see if she's as enthusiastic about other tableware.

"What? Is this not what this is for?"

And even if her love translates to a sippy cup.

But, while she enjoys other tableware and is mildly interested in her sippy, she's partial to regular cups. Since we like to spoil our daughter, we even gave her her very own blue Solo cup to play with. Isn't she lucky!?!

5 Months Old

Can time just slow down a little bit? Please? At 5 months old, Presley weighs about 15 pounds and is 27 inches long. She's outgrown some of her clothes and while it's so sad to put them away, it's fun to get the new stuff out too! It was an eventful month for our little one!

• One day after she turned 4 months old, I had to go back to work (sniff, sniff). It was so hard to get out of my yoga pants, leave my little girl with a nanny, and make my way back into the working world. Thankfully, I'm only in the office two days a week and then I work the rest of the time from home. I couldn't imagine being in the office full-time! I would be a blubbering mess! A friend of mine from church is watching her and P seems to have adapted well to our new arrangement and really likes playing with my friend's kids--there's no shortage of attention for her! I still cry myself to work every Tuesday when I drop her off and can't get out of the office fast enough in the evening. I'm still waiting for that moment where I'm grateful that I have something to do besides being a wife and mommy. People always tell me it'll be nice to have but, alas, I'm still waiting.
• P can now roll both ways, although, she doesn't do either very frequently. She rolled over front-to-back for the first time on March 22nd and I was so surprised at how much joy such a little thing can bring! I was so excited! She rolled back-to-front on March 15th and Daddy and Uncle Clark got to witness that one. Yay!
• Presley now has the choice of fingers or toes to suck on. She found her feet on March 5th and enjoys sucking and chewing on her toes. She's in pure bliss when she get both her thumb and foot inside her mouth.
• She now reaches for what she wants. She holds her little arms out and gets this look like, "I've got to get that in my mouth, pronto." The first time she did it, I was walking through the kitchen with her on my way to my room and we passed a large, diet coke bottle on the counter (see more on the next bullet below), as I passed she leaned, reached and gave the look. She must take after her Great Grandma Emma.
• Presley's favorite toys are bottles and cups. If you're drinking out of it, she wants it. She's also started to show some interest in our food but, she's mostly interested in our beverages. We're waiting a couple of more weeks to start solid foods--I'm thinking she's going to be a big fan.
• Blowing spit bubbles was a fun new activity this month!
• P's working on some teeth. She isn't really cranky but, there's loads of spit (which makes the previous point more fun), chewing, and we can feel those little teefies just below her gums.
• We're working on sitting up and she's coming right along but, what she really loves to do is stand! We balance her, and she stands--it's a whole new world and she loves it!
• Presley also learned to do the "bridge." Our little Houdini learned that this is a good way to escape the confines of the bumbo and bouncy chairs. It also seems to help speed the process of getting out of the car seat, or at least she thinks it does.
• She still loves to sing! I've got to remember some more primary songs--I'm sure my playlist is getting old!

It's such a blessing to be her mommy. Jeff and I are always saying to each other, "I just love her so much!" We are one happy little family!

The Parade of Uncles

Presley is blessed to have 4 uncles on her Daddy's side and even more blessed to be meeting all of them so early in life! Uncle Clark came for a visit and in addition to have some quality time with our Sweet P, Jeff managed to show him a few of central Florida's hidden treasures!

The boys went to a redneck water park on the Suwanee River (it's really called Bob's River Place but, if you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig, right?) and braved some high-flying swings, slides and gator-infested water.

No visit would be complete with out a few culinary adventures. 420 Munchies, of course--everyone that comes to visit us needs to start off with a 5,000 calorie sandwich.

And if we really like you, we'll take you to Pearl's for some delicious BBQ served in a quaint country store (read: gas station) next to an aisle of fine linens (read: tampons). Nothing but the finest for our guests ;-)

The boys also did some fishing, and despite some spotty sunscreen application, they had a nice day and even caught some fun sea creatures!

 
Yup, that's a shark! Watch your fingers!

We had a nice visit with Uncle Clark and hope that next time Aunt Rachel can come too!
